How to join Welbeck Archers
New to the bow? Start here. To begin your archery adventure you'll first need to complete a beginners' course, open from age 10 upwards. After the course, you'll understand the basics and be able to shoot safely over short distances — and you'll have the chance to join as a club member.

Score a roundHow to enrol
- Contact us at membership@welbeckarchers.club.
- Arrange a starting date with us.
- Pay your course fees.
- Keep turning up, and enjoy yourself.
Courses are run by our club coaches at set intervals throughout the year — outdoors during spring and summer, and at our indoor venue during autumn and winter when it’s too dark to shoot outside.
What we will do
- Provide all the archery equipment you'll need for the course.
- Provide safety instruction and supervision.
- Teach you a basic Target Archery technique.
- Give you the opportunity to apply for Welbeck Archers membership.
- Give advice on the types and sources of your own equipment.
- Have third-party liability insurance in place through Archery GB.
What we ask of you
- Close-fitting clothing for the upper body.
- Outdoors: enough clothing to keep warm and dry — thin layers, plus something you can slip on while waiting.
- Indoors: anything comfortable but fairly close-fitting.
- Flat, sturdy footwear that encloses your toes — no sandals or flip-flops. Boots are recommended outdoors in wet conditions.
- Remove any jewellery or facial piercing that could cause a hazard.
- Tie back long or flowing hair, or keep it under a hat.

If you're a current AGB member of another club, you can join us as an affiliated member — or as a full member, which means leaving your current club. If you've shot in the past, are not a current AGB member, or hold an affiliation with another archery organisation, we'll ask you to complete an assessment before joining.
